Ward 5 Area Councillor
In 2003 Garry committed to our youth, community recreation resources, responsible community development, better business development and working with the province on healthcare solutions. Garry fulfilled this commitments by spearheading a new medical clinic, movie theatre, more resources in the Town's economic development department, a skateboard park facility, more parkettes, and working towards a clear development future for the community. Garry fulfilled his commitments.


Community Service
Garry and his family settled in the Bolton area in 2001 and they have been proud Caledon residents ever since. Garry has been an active member of several community, church and sports groups locally and across Canada, serving in a variety of positions from chair, president, secretary, member and coach. Garry enjoys working with and representing his ward, the Town at large and getting involved in policies at all levels.

Garry is an alumnus of the Governor General’s 2000 Canadian Study Conference “Building Stronger Communities” and on his own time corresponds with contacts across Canada on common community issues.

Family
He enjoys family time with his children and where spare time permits, he also enjoys renovation projects, computer technology, and...

Career
While serving the community of Ward 5 (Bolton), Garry has been employed as a successful corporate manager, managing large development activities, restructuring initiatives and strategic projects for Thomson Financial in Markham Ontario. Garry holds a certification as a Project Management Professional.

Businessman
At the age of 21, Garry became a partner in his family-owned and operated produce farm and retail operation. He managed one of their large retail stores in London Ontario.

Served His Country
At 23 Garry joined the Canadian Forces and enrolled as an Infantry Officer in the Royal Canadian Regiment. Serving across Canada and abroad he held a variety of operational and staff positions including, Intelligence Officer, Environmental Officer, Project Manager, Field Officer and Executive Assistant to General Staff.

During his military tenure, he represented Canada in large profile activities such as NATO Working Groups across the USA and Europe. He served six months in Bosnia Herzegovina and in 1998 and was awarded with the Canadian Forces Decoration, Canadian Peacekeeping Medal and NATO Service in the Former Republic of Yugoslavia Medal.

In 2000, after successfully reaching the rank of Major, Garry voluntarily left the military.

Education
He has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from the University of Manitoba.
